:
The body of the piece was sawed and examined without disaggregation because of the vitrification. It consists primarily of light gray and black glassy material with small patches of light to medium green glass. Weathering along some edges is pronounced revealing an original quartz rich matrix. Grains are clear to reddish, subangular to subrounded, and range up to ~1.0mm in diameter. There is no evidence for the former presence of organic matter. The bubble on the surface has a broken section revealing weathered material beneath the glass. It is very quartz rich and may be the remnants of lagging, but the evidence is not conclusive. The grains seem to be smaller in general than those in the matrix.
