Metallographic Description

This sample is composed of islands of metal embedded in a matrix either of slag or of ceramic mold The islands are cored dendritic, single phase. Vincent Pigott has suggested that this may be the remains of something cast in a lost-wax process; the ceramic may be the remains of the core.
