Where Cut: Two samples cut, one through small end and one through thick base
How Mounted: both pieces mounted cut side up
Structure: Post-casting treatment
Metallographic description: Almost no metal remained in the thick end. Description and photo comes from the thin end. Cast, ending with cold-working. The structure is dendritic, with little corrosion. The dendrites have been deformed to lie in one direction and strain lines can be seen in the uncored areas.
