Where Cut: One corner was cut off.
How Mounted: cut side up
Structure: As-cast.
Metallographic description: Dendritic with grain boundaries forming and a good deal of shrinkage voiding and interdendritic corrosion. Some mechanical twins or strain markings can be seen at high magnification, suggesting that there was some plastic deformation after casting. Cast, fairly slow cooling, a little work or post-production stress of some kind.
