Structure: As-cast.
Metallographic description: The sample is dendritic, with only a small amount of coring visible. The grain boundaries are very clear, and the grains are large. A small amount of alpha+delta eutectoid has survived corrosion. There are many blue-gray inclusions, and at one end, large gas and shrinkage pores. At the very end the artifact shows a deep v-shaped cut which penetrates about 4 mm into the artifact. The sharp, even sides of the cut suggest that it was deliberately produced.
